Passion for the photography and the mysterious atmospheres of the South East Asian. An adventurous and artistic binomial to live an experiment out of the common run. It is the possibility offered by Foto Asia, cultural organization which is occupied of promoting Asian photography in Europe and which works in Vietnam and Kampuchea by organizing photo workshops on the place even.
Ten working days, plunged in photography through the courses of the immense rice plantations and the ancient temples hidden in the jungle, of the large incomparable rivers and their sunset. Saigon and Phnom Penh are the towns of permanence for the participants in the workshops (a maximum of 7 people) which they will have the possibility of visiting and of photographing, assisted and guided of two photo reporter professional in the most suggestive places of the two Asian countries.
A new turn that Fotoasia proposes for this photographic and human adventure, that, in addition to the photo workshop, includes housing in three-star hotel in room doubles deluxe with breakfast, Internet wi fi included.

Photo Journalism is the main theme of the workshop – participants will focus on developing a storyline using images taken on the trip. The theme of each participant’s narrative will be individually chosen at the beginning of the workshop, then the group will work together to select the final 20 images that represent the best of each photographer’s work. Pictures are to be taken during field excursions in the same manner as Cartier-Bresson or the more contemporary James Nachtwey. We will go out on location with daylight or moonlight, at dusk or dawn, according to our needs and our inspiration.

Nicolas Pascarel was born in Paris in 1966 and worked as a photographic reporter for over twenty years. Since the early 90’s, he has been spending most of his time in Naples and Havana, but now has decided to return to his first passion – South East Asia – with the intention of remaining to work in the region for years to come. Nicolas did numerous photo workshops for the Royal Academy of the Fine Arts School in Phnom Penh, in the city of Chiang Rai in Northern Thailand and Bangkok; as well as Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. He often collaborates with a Cambodian NGO taking care of street children in Phnom Penh. He has exhibited his works in galleries and photo international festival across France, Italy, Germany, Holland, Spain, Cuba, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia and China. He also created a documentary about Cambodia called “Durant la Pluie”. Fotoasia is a cultural organization that promotes exchanges between European and Asian photographers. The purpose of Fotoasia is to promote and present exhibitions of young Asian photographers in Europe.

In the future, Fotoasia go to Laos and Nord Vietnam too with the same spirit about photography.
It organise also, 4 full days at Angkor Temples in Siem Reap city, Cambodia.
